This is a quick review of the CaddyTalk Minimi Rangefinder. CaddyTalk advertises this rangefinder as the smallest rangefinder in the world! It’s very small and easily fits in your hand. It’s so small that it actually fit in the front pocket of your pants! It’s roughly the size of a small cell phone although it is much thicker (probably about 2-3x the thickness of a cell phone).
It’s small, it’s stylish, and it works well. After all, a rangefinder is a tool not an accessory so it has to work well. The minimi is a laser rangefinder. It uses a horizontal laser so it tends to catch the target much better than horizontal laser rangefinders.
The minimi does not use GPS.
Because it’s so small, it’s very popular in Korea for women golfer. It just looks so nice that it has really captured the female market. Because it’s small, it’s more prone to unwanted hand movement from pushing the button on top so it comes with a magnetic remote control! The remote control can be removed and button can be pushed in lieu of pushing the button on the top of the device. this way you can hold your rangefinder with one hand and point it right at your target and you can use the remote with your other hand to push that remote button. When the remote button is pressed, the rangefinder will lock onto your target and show you the distance. And because the remote is magnetic, you can keep it on the rangefinder or you can stick it onto your hat where you keep your ball marker. In fact, the white case comes with a magnetic ball marker that you can also use with your remote!
The case…well, it actually doesn’t come with one. There is an official case sold by caddytalk as the official case for this rangefinder but it’s extra. I think this rangefinder should have come packaged with the case but I suppose the argument can be made that if you didn’t want this case, you are actually paying less so you can get just the rangefinder.
The rangefinder is available in white and black.
As for cost, it’s not too crazy. The rangefinder is 279k krw (~$260) and the white case is 49k krw (~42).
