With the increased popularity of golf in Korea, there has been an increase in golf course construction and an increase in tee times (night golf, etc.). Tee times are still tough to get but another issue is that there is a shortage of caddies in Korea.
So some country clubs have started to have tee times set aside for no-caddie times. Personally I love this because while caddies in Korea are nice to have since they will tell you distances and keep an eye on your ball, caddies can also be a pain because they’re usually rushing you, etc. If you want to take a mulligan, you usually need their approval, etc.
Sagewood is an upscale country club on the eastern part of Korea in the mountains so it’s a little cold and chilly here. Tee times are also some of the highest prices in the country running 370k krw (~$300) on Saturday mornings.
We played challenge which was….quite a challenge. They were doing maintenance on some of the tees so most of the whites, blues, and blacks were set up on the champion tees. Par 3s were around 190 meters which is pretty crazy for Korea (usually a par 3 will be around 130m or so…at most 150m).
