Fun day out on the course! I played with a couple of Korean guys…patent attorney and a physician as well as my friend Dave from Samsung. Anyway, it was a good day out on the course and even though we walked the 18 holes, we finished our round in 4 hours so great timing.
It’s a Tuesday but public holiday for election day in Korea (Lee Jae Myung was elected President btw…oh well).
At the turn we had some watermelon which is great for the summer. They have these 300ml metal cups that they use for draft beer so those were pretty cool as well.
I played ok overall but sliced a few drives so that kinda sucked. I got one birdie on a par 3 so that was nice. My putter is still on fire!
I’ve been playing around with my golf grip these days. I think my hands were actually too loose. The whole notion of gripping your golf club like you are “holding a baby bird” might be too loose for me because the grip of the club seems to get away from my hands on the top of the backswing.
So I’m gripping a little tighter (not a death grip or anything like that but pretty firm) especially where my left hand pinky and ring finger are touching the grip and keeping that grip pressure consistent.
The result has been increased distance. There was one hole where I was around 125m away which for me is usually an 8 iron. I hit it flush and the trajectory was probably a good 30m beyond the green way up to a metal fan that towers over the green. It hit the metal fan (made a loud sound) but when I went over there to see if I can find my ball, I realized that the ball was inside the grates of the fan! Lol.
Anyway, fun day despite my driver acting up. Need to head over to the range to see what’s going on. I played on Sat, Sun, and Tues but couldn’t practice on Monday because the golf practice room is closed on Mondays. Driver was a bit wonky on all of these days.
My next round is in the US at Torrey Pines this Saturday!
