Tee Time: 13:08
Players: Youngjune, Charles, Jaeil
Played golf with Jaeil for the first time. Anyang has a practice range so you can hit some balls for 20 minutes prior to your round. When you check in, you can tell the women at the front desk that you’d like to practice before your round and they will have your bag sent over to the practice range.
When you go to the range, the guy there will set you up with a station where you can hit balls for 20 minutes to get yourself warmed up.
The standard process is to drop off your car and bags, check-in, change into your golf clothes in the locker room, eat breakfast/lunch, head down to the practice range and hit balls, and then go to play the course.
I took a slightly different order and went to the practice range after changing into my golf clothes and before going to eat lunch mainly because my playing partners were not going to practice so we finished lunch and went straight down to get started on our round.
The practice session did not help though. First driver on hole 1 was a hook left into the trees. I hit another one and it did the same thing but hit a tree and luckily bounced back into the fairway. I hooked the second driver shot as well as on hole 2.
I think it was because when I was practicing I was hitting straight but pushing right. In any case, my first 2 driver shots were just terrible.
I lost 1 ball all day and it was on the first shot of the day.
I didn’t play well in the front 9 but calmed down and had a pretty good back 9. Driver was a bit tempermental though but had a few really good drives so that was nice but not as many good drives as last week.
None of us were making birdies all day so that was a bummer but on hole 18 I got a birdie and the only one from our team! I hit a nice baby fade with the driver on a par 4. I left around 125m to the green. I have been pushing my irons a little right all day so I adjusted my stance to aim slight more left and hit my 8 iron flush. It went right over to the pin and left me with a short 4 foot putt for birdie which I nailed easily for the birdie!
However, my driver isn’t going in the right direction of improvement as my best day was last Sun and then Mon was ok but slightly worse than Sun and then this past Sat was even worse and Sun was even worse than that…so this round was my worst driver round in the last 4 rounds.
I’ll hit the practice range this week and hopefully make a few modifications. I tried to hit a draw on one hole and the swing was pretty comfortable aiming right. I did get the draw but unfortunately rather than starting on the right side of the fairway and drawing to the middle of the fairway, it started in the middle and ended up on the left side of the fairway. I got good distance though and it was still on the fairway so no complaints. I’ll try this swing a few times per round to see if I can get it dialed in.
