Wow what a crazy hot day! It was around 100 degrees…way too hot to do anything outside let alone play golf. But my friends JM and F were visiting from Calgary and only had a day so it was a day of picking them up at the airport, heading over to play Haneul, and then driving them back to the airport to make their flight back home.
Both of these guys are young and energetic and had come from playing 36 holes/day in Vietnam everyday!
But it was really hot and it may have been the hottest day I have ever played golf. It will rival a day when I played in Danang, Vietnam at Bana Hills…that day was about equally hot.
I brought my big owala special edition golf tumbler and filled it with ice and drank a lot of water so that helped. I also used cooling spray on my clothing along with wearing my big hat and other sun protection.
Even so, by the end of the front 9, the heat was exhausting and I actually think Daria was in danger of heat stroke. At the turn, we had around a 15 min break to go inside and cool down. They had free fountain soda and it was really refreshing to have a nice tall glass of coke zero with ice.
The break helped and the back 9 was a little cooler so we ended up well.
This was a hot and crazy day. I don’t recommend it. I am trying not to schedule many rounds in this heat although I do have a round in a few days on Sunday and another one next week or so.
