After a long day of rain yesterday, it was raining today but when we called the golf course, they said that it was not raining over there and there is no rain in the forecast so they would not let us cancel. Oh well, so we went to the course.
It was drizzling a little bit at hole 1 but was definitely playable. We would have been fine if the weather just stayed that way but at hole 2 it started raining more and the rain just increased as we played.
By hole 4 the rain was pretty bad and by hole 5 it was torrential rain and we were carrying umbrellas and rain gear was worn if you had it. I was using my rain golf gloves.
We played hole 6 but it was pretty clear to me that we needed to call it a day but nobody else seemed to want to call it. So it was kind of a game of trying to read each other…and after hole 6 I brought up that maybe we should cancel. There were some talks about playing until the end of the front 9 but I didn’t really even want to do that. So we called it after hole 6.
The golf course was nice about it and let us call it. So we just paid for the number of holes we played and called it a day. We cleaned up and went home. It was still a nice day out on the golf course but very wet so we needed to take our clubs out to dry them when we got home.
It was a bit awkward though because I don’t know if everyone else wanted to call it. It’s nice when everyone has a similar tolerance level for rain but I will admit that I tend to be on the weaker side when it comes to rain and I’m pretty quick to just quit and call it a day if it starts raining anywhere more than a drizzle. My threshold is generally about 2mm/hr.
