Tee Time: 15:40
Players: Jy + random Korean couple
Rec Park 18 is a public course in Long Beach, CA. It’s a decent course but gets pretty crowded and today was no exception. I was able to book a special hot rate at around $33/person including cart so the price was great. Normal price would have been around $55 or so.
I booked a late afternoon tee time so that we could go to church in the morning, have lunch, and then go out for a round of golf.
We actually had dinner plans at 8pm so I was hoping we’d make it but no such luck…we only got to around hole 14 and had to leave because it was around 7:15pm.
There was a backlog at most of the holes so it was a bit annoying. I also wasn’t really playing that well so I was a bit frustrated as well. My driver was missing left…so odd since I struggled with a slice for the last 3 years (ever since I started playing golf) but I was not slicing and was just hitting left over and over again…I tried various adjustments with mixed results.
The random couple we were paired with was cool but like most Koreans, they lied about their golf experience. Guy said that he’s been playing for about 2 years but he was pretty good…old guy who obviously has been playing for a good 10-15 years at least. His was a more of a beginner but she was pretty good too.
Missing left is not good because there are a few holes where you can hit out onto the street and hit a car, etc. Anyway, not the best course for beginners but fun overall. I would go back but probably on a weekday during the day or something where it’s not so congested out there. Our pace was probably around a 5.5-6 hour round because of the congestion.
