Laguna Golf Club is located in Phuket in the area of Cheong Thale next to the Banyan Tree hotel. Since we were staying at Banyan Tree it was very convenient to head over to the golf course.
The golf course is very nice. Fairways and greens are in good condition and the caddies are nice and friendly.
We were paired up with a guy named Iain who was from New Zealand but currently living in China with his wife. He said that he and his wife are both in education. Iain was a pretty good golfer and a nice guy overall.
There was a slower group in front of us and after waiting around on a couple of holes, they were cool enough to let us play through so after that it was a nice pace.
I played well and driver was mostly straight so that was great. I’ve been fiddling around with a new driver swing that aims right and draws the ball left. It’s been working well but sometimes I’ll hook it left if I don’t push it right enough…oh well.
We finished the round in a little over 3 hours so it wasn’t too bad.
Caddie tip is recommended at 400 baht (~$11). I tipped our caddies 500 baht (~$14) each and they seemed to like that so much that they asked that we specifically request them again when we play again in a couple of days.
Cost for the round was 6850 baht for 2 players which is around $200 (so $100/player) before the caddie tip. This included a slight discount for being guests at Banyan Tree.
