The group was excited to play here since they had not had the opportunity to play here in many years. JJ said it had been over 10 years since he last played here and Scott said he played here before but doesn’t remember when or anything about the course.
Hyungoo played well and shot a 78 with 2 birdies. Great round for him.
Scott didn’t play so well so he was a bit frustrated. His driver was hooking quite a bit so he scored an 89.
I played ok in that I didn’t hit a single slice…probably the first time for me that I went a full round without hitting a slice off the driver! I hit a few draws even but they started center (rather than starting right) so they ended up in the left rough but I was just happy to see some different movement off the ball. I had a few really bad holes though…I hadn’t had bad holes like this in awhile but had around 3 of them this round. Early on there was one hole where I kept topping the ball…it was frustrating and I lost a bunch of strokes. I adjusted by keeping my head down and looking at the ball longer and it seemed to work to fix this. I also had a double par in the second half on a particularly bad hole. So with a quadruple bogey and some triple bogeys I ended up with a 94. Oh well. I did par a lot more holes than usual so that was nice.
Weather is still hot and the sun was out during the second half so that was not good but we finished the round at around 1pm. I still get surprised seeing people arrive at 1pm thinking about what they are going to have to go through.
