This was my first time playing golf with this group. It was a lot of fun. I’ve been playing at Ansung Benest for many years and have probably played 50-100 rounds there but I don’t recall ever seeing fog. I have played through some really thick and crazy fog in Korea but just never here at Ansung Benest but there was fog. It wasn’t as thick as some but still enough that you couldn’t see a whole lot.
The fog mostly lifted after about 3 holes or so though so that was nice. But it was drizzling for pretty much the entire round and at times the rain did get a little heavier than a drizzle so I pulled out the umbrella, etc.
It had also rained the day before so the course was just wet. The greens were heavy and slow. There were puddles in some of the bunkers and even some areas of the fairway.
I started out playing very well…driver was great early on but started to get inconsistent late in the front 9 and then was really bad in the back 9. Not sure what went wrong there but I started slicing a lot.
The caddie was really good and nice. She was a bit of a stickler with scoring though in writing lots of 3s and even a 4. In Korea, they tend to be a little more lax. She did give me a few mulligans there and there though so that was nice I guess.
But on hole 18 after I tee’d off I was walking down from the tee box and walked down a few steps and at the bottom something slipped and I rolled and twisted up my right ankle really bad. I fell down and also scraped my left knee. It was painful and I hobbled my way through hole 18. I iced it at night when I got home.
Since I had a round the next day, I went to the practice range to make sure I can still hit balls and seemed ok so I decided to play the next day anyway…turns out I played well (spoiler!).
We had lunch at my favorite place just down the road. The duck soup is really good.
