Anyang! This was definitely on my bucket list of country clubs in Korea! Anyang is considered by many to be the best country club in Korea! It is the flagship country club owned by Samsung and has a rich history of the top Samsung founder, chairman, etc. all playing here regularly.
There are thousands of beautiful trees on the property. Every single tree is meticulously maintained for absolute beauty. There are water hazards, lotus leaves, immaculate fairways, greens, etc. Everything is absolutely perfect!
Unlike most golf courses in Korea, there are pretty much no out of bounds areas. If you massively hook or slice, your ball will fly over to an adjacent hole and you can either just hit from there or one of the caddies will bring the ball over and you can just drop it and play. Notice I said caddies? You get 2 caddies assigned to each foursome. The reason is that there are no golf carts here! So yes, you walk the entire course. The caddies have push carts that can handle 2 bags each so they will take care of your clubs for you like you’re in the PGA. You do pay for 2 caddies but there is no cart fee so it’s not too expensive.
There are lots of trees so it’s fun hitting through some trees to get the green, etc.
Of course the clubhouse, locker room, and restaurant are all top notch as you would expect.
This club is private so it’s extremely difficult to get a tee time. It’s also very expensive to join but like most clubs at this level, it’s not just money that will get you in. You need to be personally approved to join this club.
If you ever get an opportunity to play here, take it and play! You can arrive early and check out the practice range and hit a few balls before your tee time as well. The practice range is open to the public I believe. Our tee time was so early that we didn’t have time to hit the range. Oh well….hopefully there will be a next time!
