It was a public holiday so I took the family to spend the night at Oak Valley the night before and headed out to the course the next morning.
Oak Valley resort has 3 different golf courses available. 2 of the courses are for members only but Oak Creek is public. Oak Creek is a 9 hole course so you run through the holes twice. There are 2 greens per hole so you use the blue flag green the first 9 and then the red flag greens the second time. There was one hole that had a single yellow flag so you just use that both times). You tee off from the same location though.
Oak Creek is a fairly difficult course because other than the fairly narrow fairway, the left and right and usually OB so I lost a lot of balls.
You can do some self caddie rounds though so that was nice not having caddie around rushing you, etc. We still kept up pace and played at the pace of the group in front of us.
There are many beginners here so it’s a pretty low stress place to play although the course is not easy.
The clubhouse is tiny…small restaurant with only a few table and a menu with only a few items (cheap though!) and the pro shop is pretty much nonexistent. The locker room is also small.
But for a cheap and quick round of golf, this is not a bad option if you’re near the area.
