I used to visit this area with my family many years ago. There was a St. Regis right next to the golf course (it is now a Waldorf Astoria) and I liked staying at the hotel for the weekend as a staycation, etc. One of my closest friends in graduate school actually got married here as well.
So I always saw the golf course and it looked so nice but I didn’t play golf back then. So when my friend set up a round for us here, I was excited! As a member, he was able to get me on a discounted rate of $150 so that was great!
While the other rounds I have played near the beach were high up, Monarch Beach is much closer to the ground near the actual sand and beach. In fact, there was hole where we could have taken a few steps to walk over to the beach! It would take a pretty bad shot to actually hit a ball over there but it’s like a giant bunker!
My friend Song from Seattle was also here to play and when it started drizzling towards the end, we joked that he had brought the rain over from Seattle! But the drizzle died down and we finished up our round.
