Tee Time: 8:28am
Players: Malcolm, Brandon, Alex
I played at New Seoul with some fashion icons in Korea. These guys are pretty cool! It was my first time playing with Brandon and Alex and they were both good guys and fun to play with. Both are members at New Seoul but Brandon said it was his first outing of the year (he only plays a few times per year) and Alex is an avid golfer.
New Seoul is a great course and is only around 30 minutes from Seoul so it’s in a great location!
There are 2 courses that make up New Seoul – Munhwa (Culture) and Yeh-Sool (Art). New Seoul is owned by the government so the facilities aren’t the greatest but it’s not bad and clean overall. The green fees are such are supposedly not crazy expensive but I didn’t notice them being any cheaper than regular places. But I am not aware of the price breakdown since 2 of our 4 were members and members get discounted pricing.
We had breakfast in the restaurant. The american breakfast was pretty good although a little too bread heavy (iirc, it came with 2 rolls and a slice of bread (cut in half). There were also some sausages and bacon and such as well as eggs and potatoes. We also at a post round meal in the restaurant which was fine.
The course itself is a nice mix of wide fairways and some slightly more narrow ones. There are some water hazards as well. Not too many bunkers so it’s not crazy hard. We played Munhwa and from what I was told, it’s the longer of the 2 courses there.
It’s tough to beat the location. I played here once last year and it rained pretty hard so we took a short break in the front 9. This time it started out great in terms of weather but it started raining on the back 9. Oh well, the rain wasn’t too heavy so we just played through it.
They seem to do well with the upkeep of the course. There was one hole where there must have been 20 older Koreans all working to maintain the course fixing divots and such.
I played like crap though. I haven’t been able to practice because of my tendonitis on my arms so I was slicing my driver way too much. I was fine with all of my other clubs (woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, putter) but my driver was giving me some grief. Oh well, back to the range for some practice when my arms heal up a bit.
