Tee Time: 16:29
This was a great day at the Crosby! Because of covid regulations in Korea, the country is at level 4 (highest) which means that after 6pm, only 2 people are allowed to gather.
Korean golf courses are notoriously strict about ensuring that all groups are a foursome. When you book a tee time, usually you must book for 4 people. I have seen possibilities for 3 at certain unpopular times (really early morning or late at night) but the ability to book 2 is very rare. The few places that I have seen that allow bookings for 2 will just have others join you to make a foursome.
As a result, if you want to play golf in Korea you usually need to book 4 people and find some friends. There are many bulletin boards and chatrooms and such where people can find other golfers to make their foursome though.
But anyway, because of covid, all tee times 4pm and later are restricted to 2 people! Score! You can only play 9 holes at one of the 3 courses and it’s self-caddie so that’s also great. The total cost was only 80k per person for green fees and 40k to share the cart so 200k total which is a steal for Korean golf!
The Crosby is also very nice. It’s one of my favorite golf clubs in Korea. It is a 27 hole club with 3 courses – Aria, Billy, and Charlotte. I played Aria this time.
I played really well. Maybe it was just that we didn’t have a group behind us so we could play at our own pace and not having a caddie watching over my shoulder but it was a great time.
Unlike the normal tee times, you cannot use the restaurant or the shadow house. You also don’t drop off your clubs at the clubhouse. Instead you self-park your car, check in, get assigned a cart. You then go downstairs to get your cart and then drive your cart to your car. You self-load your own golf clubs and then drive back down to start.
Although we had a 16:29 tee time, they just said to start whenever we are ready so we tee’d off at 16:00. They said that we have a 1.5 hour time limit to play 9 holes but we had a group in front of us so we ended up playing for about 2 hours. I suppose that 1.5 hour thing is if there is no one in front of you? They also have some standard rules like playing only 1 ball, etc. All standard stuff.
All in all it was a lot of fun and as much as I want covid to go away, I want to keep taking advantage of 2 person tee times in Korea while I can.
