It’s been almost exactly 1 year since my last opportunity to play golf at Trinity. Trinity is my favorite course in Korea and still very difficult to play there. Most Korean courses set up their tee times at 7 minute intervals so you’re constantly rushed to play to keep up with the group in front of you as well as not hold up the group behind you. I have actually heard that many country clubs actually book in 5-6 minute intervals instead of 7.
Playing a second time and this time with 1+ years of golf experience behind me, it was a slightly different experience. Trinity is a hard course. I didn’t notice that last time. The fairways are still well manicured…almost too well! It’s like hitting irons off of the putting green. In some ways, hitting off the rough was ok because the rough is like the fairway of other courses that I’m much more used to.
I saw one other group the entire time we were there. We had the first tee time of the day so we didn’t see anyone in front of us and the group behind us never caught up. We never even saw the group behind us except for 1 hole where we saw them tee off on the hole before us as we were putting out. It’s ok to take mulligans and re-hit a bad drive, etc. since the caddie seems cool with it and you’re not pressed for time.
The best feature is the open natural grass range for practice before hole 1. I would recommend going early so that you can get at least 10 minutes of practice. We were running late so we only got 5 minutes of practice time before our round.
Service is impeccable. The staff have walkie talkies where they are constantly watching you to make sure they antipate your every need.
I have heard that they have increased their membership. They used to only have 120 members but supposedly it’s a higher number now. I saw a lot more divot marks and such than last year so it looks to me like the course is getting much more use. I have heard that it’s fully booked most of the time now. So I’m not sure when I’ll have another opportunity but hopefully within the next year?
