10/16/2021 – La Vie est Belle (Dunes Course)

Tee Time: 8:22am

Players: Gary, Seungjai, Youngjune

Last month I played La Vie est Belle at the Old course which was a great course with a nice hanok style clubhouse. This time I wanted to check out the Dunes course which has it’s own modern architecture clubhouse. There are a few holes that brush up against the old course as well but it’s really a separate course with its own style, etc.

The Dunes course has a lot of water hazards. Many holes have a lake on the side or other various hazards. There is a big open area when you first look down at the course that reminds me of the big and wide courses in the USA. In many ways, some of the holes at Dunes is like that where if you slice one off the tee, you might get lucky and not hit your ball OB and instead it will just hit over to the next fairway and you can retrieve your ball.

There are a few snacks available along the way which was nice to see (korean style donuts, etc.). The snack area after the front 9 is the same as the restaurant. It has a nice outdoor seating area as well.

The course plays well. It’s challenging like most Korean courses and harder than it looks.

The carts are fun and whimsical with various colors such as orange, yellow, etc.

This is a public course but reservations are extremely difficult to get. Reservations open at 9am on Tuesday for 3 weeks out and usually 10-15 seconds later, all reservations are booked for the week so you need to be there before 9am mashing on the refresh button, etc. I suppose maybe you can use a script or something but as technical of a guy as I am, I don’t know how to do that.
