As the name suggests, Island Resort is on an island located off the west coast of Korea. It’s south of Incheon and west of Hwaseong/Dongtan so southwest of Seoul. It’s not too far but there is a bit of local driving in the end so it took about an hour from Seoul. I would guess that from Incheon or Dongtan it would be more like 45 minutes and maybe 25 minutes from Hwaseong.
The course also has a resort attached so it so you can stay overnight if you wish. You can also stay at the resort and not play golf and just explore the island as well.
There was a lot of building activity going on so it looks like they are trying to make this into a tourist/travel destination with condos, etc.
The course itself is nice since many of the holes are located near the water. Also, since the course is a bit out of the way, they also allow 3 person bookings. If you are a 3-some instead of 4-some, you do pay an extra 10,000 krw per person but if you sign up on the website (free membership), they take off 10,000 krw off your green fees as well.
The course is fun. Difficulty is not too hard but not too easy so I would say that it’s on the average for Korean golf courses.
