Southcape is definitely a bucket list type of course for anyone who lives in Korea. It was a golf digest #9 best golf course in the world a few years ago (not sure why but after that it no longer cracks that top 100).
We started with the sunrise course and this course is absolutely beautiful. Almost every hole has ocean views. It is so picturesque! It was fun playing golf and taking pictures at the same time.
Southcape is located in the southern area of Namhae which is pretty far from Seoul. We drove and it’s about a 5+ hour drive. There is a small airport as well as train station so if you don’t like to drive long distances, there are other options.
Most of the guests who play Southcape stay at the resort as well. They have stay and play type of packages which typically range in price from around 900k-1.2m krw or so which is roughly around $750-$1000 per person (higher prices are on weekends). For that price, you get 2 rounds of golf (so golf on the first and second day) as well as lodging for 1 night. It’s not too bad of a price.
Green fees are on the expensive side so they run around 390k ($325) or so per person.
Last year, you can book just a tee time without lodging but you had to call in, etc. This year they revamped their website so you can just book online so I did that.
Since you need a foursome, it’s not always easy to find another couple of play with. I asked 2 different couples and they both said no…too far, too expensive, etc. But one couple at work did agree so that was nice. They also made it a family trip like us and brought their kid, etc.
The clubhouse and country club is really nice but not as nice as the pictures. Things just seemed a little more run down (the drive in, clubhouse, parking lot, etc.) than the modern and shiny pictures. The course itself was great though!
