6/12/2023 – Recreation Park 9 (Long Beach, CA)

Tee Time: 8:06am

Players: Jy

This is a small 9 hole golf course located across the street from the bigger Recreation Park 18 (where I played yesterday). Our tee time was at 8:06am and we were able to just play the 2 of us (so no one else was paired up with us). The holes are all par 3 and par 4 (iirc, roughly half and half).

The course itself was a lot of fun and moved quickly. We were pretty much on pace to finish 9 holes in about an hour.

We got a bit lost when going to hole 6 because it’s across the street and I didn’t see any signs, etc. We got over there and it started to slow down because there was an idiot out there playing hole 7 over and over again. We were waiting to hit our drives when I noticed a guy in a cart hitting some approach shots. We eventually moved so we hit our drives. My next hit was going to be a lay up near where the guy was practicing approach shots so he finally left so we can play. After putting out, we noticed that the idiot moved over to the tee box and was hitting drives on that hole over and over again. After around 5-6 drives he would drive his cart out and then pick up all of the balls and then go somewhere else to practice more.

I actually don’t care if someone practices out there but he was holding us up and everyone else up since the course wasn’t empty….he should only do that if he’s not getting in anyone’s way. They really needed a marshall out there.

Anyway, the course was fun but ended way too quickly at only a little over an hour. Oh well…I like playing 9 holes but for the price (it was around $40/person) it was a little much.
