Tee Time: 6:40am
Players: Trent, 2 random guys
This was my first time playing Los Verdes. I spent much of my adult post-college life in Redondo Beach so I was just a neighborhood away from Palos Verdes. Of course I had heard of Los Verdes but I didn’t really play golf back then so I was excited to finally check out Los Verdes.
Green fees + cart + tax, etc. was around $80 or so per player. Not terribly expensive but also not cheap for a muni course. I suppose it was fine though.
Many of the holes are set up so that you ball will bounce and roll towards the ocean. There were a few holes where I knew I had hit it off into the rough only to find it in the fairway (got some lucky bounces and rolls I guess).
I played well overall and my putter was good. But I did have a few blowup holes where I got double or triple bogey and that really messed up my score. I ended up carding a 97…oh well.
I read online that rounds can take 5-6 hours here because they sometimes even have fivesomes but we got through pretty quickly and overall we finished our round in about 4.5 hours which wasn’t bad. We had a twosome behind us and they were patient for the most part but did hit into us once or twice. We had a few other groups hit into us (slices, etc.) and even had a ball hit our cart once so that was a bit annoying (and scary).
Tee times are tough to get but if you can get one, it’s a pretty nice course!
