Played with a few dads from my kids’ school. Fun group of guys! One guy was playing golf for the first time in Korea so I sent him the link from this site for Korean Golf 101 and he read through it so he had everything prepared (name tag on golf bag, etc.!).
The weather was really nice. I showed up in shorts but it was a bit chilly so I changed into my long pants in the locker room. The sun came out and it was beautiful….no humidity, etc. It got a little warm but was nice fall weather. Hopefully we are now turning the corner on a hot summer.
I played well at the start. This round was almost identical to my most recent round in Bali. I had a pretty good first 4 holes or so with the driver really going straight on hole 1 but after about 4 holes or so I hit my first slice off the driver and was inconsistent after that.
I’m working a lot on 2 things:
- keep my left foot (heel especially) planted. I find that if I do some weird stuff with my left foot like raise my left heel on impact, etc. then it causes more heel strikes on the driver which causes the ball to slice, etc.
- follow through. Sometimes I seem to just stop as soon as I make impact with the driver.
If there’s a 3rd thing, it’s really ensuring that I keep an in to out swing path and swing down not across (with promotes more over the top).
Anyway, that’s a lot of swing thoughts but if I clear my mind with no swing thoughts, I naturally go back to bad habits of early extension, not follow through, swinging over the top, etc.
