5/1/2025 – Bear Creek (Creek Course)

Tee Time: 6:59am

Players: Kyle, Jaden, Hans

This was an early tee time! We were the 2nd tee time of the day so the parking lot was empty when I arrived at around 5:30am. May 1st is labor day in Korea so a public holiday!

Since we are playing the creek course, it’s a long cart ride to the course so they recommend that you head down to the cart by 6:30am. We met for breakfast at 5:45am and headed down well in time for 6:30 to head over to Creek course.

I like Creek more than Bear but both courses are nice. Our caddie was also very nice today and she was good about letting us hit mulligans, etc.

There was rain in the forecast but the forecast kept changing from 10am to 12pm then to 11am, etc. Either way the clouds looked a bit ominous. At hole 9 it started drizzling very lightly but it wasn’t a big deal. We finished up 9 and went to take a short break.

About 30 minutes later we started the back 9 and it started raining hard immediately. We played a hole just to see if the rain would pass and it actually did so hole 11 was fine. During hole 12 the rain started to come back and by the end of hole 13 it was raining pretty hard. We were going to call it a day but decided to try 1 more hole just in case the rain lets up so we played hole 14 but the rain continued so we called it a day after hole 14.

We had lunch at my favorite Korean BBQ place in the area and had a nice day out!

I was really tired because I was out late last night and didn’t get home until around midnight. I got up at 4am to get ready and head out of the house at 4:30 so only got around 3.5 hours of sleep. I was really tired driving home and there weren’t any rest areas so I more or less just kind of powered through it. Took a quick 1 hour nap at home before I head to head out again so it was a long day but a fun day that started with a nice round of golf.

I played well overall so I was happy with my play. Driver was good. I’ve been working on a steeper down blow with my irons. This causes a lot more compression on the ball and it feels great and I take a divot. My previous swing was much more of a sweeping swing so there was no divot but contact wasn’t always so good and there was no actual compression of the ball on the club. But the downside with this steep swing is that sometimes I’ll hit the ball fat and that’s no good. Oh well.
