This was my first round of 2024! In previous years I played a little bit over the winter and also traveled a little bit overseas to Southeast Asia to play golf but this year I spent long weekends over the winter going skiing so no golf.
I have been practicing a lot though so that helped. But there’s really nothing like being out on the course rather than on a mat at an indoor screen trying to practice and hit balls.
In any case, I did feel a bit rusty and it showed. My driver was a bit all over the place. My irons were all over the place as well. My putting was ok. I changed my putter grip over the winter and I like my new grip a lot more. It’s just a lot more steady so that I can’t use my wrists to screw it up.
I made a change to my iron swing these days reducing a lot tension and using more of a whip motion and paying more attention to my wrist angles, etc. It’s probably not as complicated as it sounds but I was a little apprehensive to use it early on so I was going with my old swing which was more familiar but wasn’t hitting well so I switched over to my new swing and it was going ok. It was 100% and I still mis-hit a few balls but I do that anyway.
Overall, I didn’t play that well but had fun. The weather was nice and really warmed up after the first few holes.
