Play Golf in Korea

10/12/2026 – Jayu

Tee Time: 8:32

Players: Jy, Heejung, Soohyun

Fun round with some women who live in our building. They are a lot of fun and I have played many rounds with them so it’s always nice getting together to go out onto the golf course!

Jayu is currently building their new clubhouse so they have a temporary clubhouse. The temporary clubhouse is actually pretty nice and the locker room is nice. No complaints. I don’t know when the new clubhouse will be done but I would guess another year or so?

Since Jayu is owned by SSG (who owns Starbucks), there is an actual Starbucks on the course just a few minutes away from the temporary clubhouse. We tried to get coffee before hole 1 but they were taking too long so we cancelled our order. The golf course is next to Trinity, one of the nicest golf courses in Korea.

I was actually on fire! I was playing really well. Everything was just clicking. I have really learned to reduce a lot of tension on my irons/woods/hybrid swing and it has been going well. I actually spent most of this season playing poorly with my irons but it finally clicked and I was good. With the driver going well (staying back, hitting up, etc.) it was just a great round. The front 9 was crazy good and I was at something like +3 after the front 9.

At the turn, we went to Starbucks! You can go to the temporary clubhouse and go to the restaurant to get some real food but we chose to just go to Starbucks instead. It’s not big and there are only around 4 tables or so inside. Since it’s a Starbucks, they just charge normal Starbucks prices so coffee is more like the 5-6,000 krw range rather than the typical Korean golf course 15k krw coffee. But typical Korean golf courses give you free refills but Starbucks does not. But they also have many varieties of coffee at tea like a normal Starbucks. They also sell snacks and sandwiches and things like that. Since it’s on a golf course, this Starbucks also sells beer!

The back 9 was good although not as good as my front 9. I had one blowup hole where I triple bogeyed. It was a par 5 and I pushed my drive right. It was in the rough but I was blocked by some trees. I tried to avoid the trees but it hit smack into one and the ball came back to me. I hit my 3rd shot and it wasn’t great. Then my 4th shot was close to the fringe. My 5th shot went onto the green but had a long way to the pin. After missing my two putt, it was a 3 putt for triple. Oh well.

In the end, I ended up at 81 so still my lifetime best. But I think the caddie fudged it a bit. But I am pretty sure I was at below 90 so happy with that!
